Stop and smell the exotic flowers in Sri Lanka’s only botanical gardens located in a ‘dry zone’. Mirijjawila Botanical Gardens is an expansive park which spans over 300 acres, filled with lush green gross dotted with rare flowers and soaring trees that act as nature’s skyscrapers.
The Mirijjawila Botanical Gardens were established as a conservation site for trees and shrubs that are disappearing within Hambantota. Here you will find shrubs used for medicinal purposes, trees considered unpopular in the rest of the country, and flowers meant for ornamental decoration and commercial sale.
The Botanical Gardens are located on the Colombo-Kataragama highway by the Mattala International Airport and easily accessible by car.
